Kansas City, KS : A motorcyclist died in a wreck on Sunday, July 2, 2017
A motorcyclist died Sunday in a wreck at 60th Street and Swope Parkway, according to Kansas City police.
The wreck was reported shortly before 10:30 a.m., when a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling south on Swope Parkway struck a car that pulled out in front of it in the intersection, according to Sgt. Deb Randol of the Kansas City Police Department.
A Nissan Altima at a stop sign in the intersection pulled out in front of the motorcycle, Randol said. The motorcyclist lost control, the motorcycle overturned and the driver was ejected.
The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nisaan left the scene but only traveled a few blocks before walking back to the scene, Randol said. Police took her into custody.
A witness to the wreck, Joe Corbin, said the driver of the Nissan might have been unable to see the oncoming traffic because cars parked at the intersection blocked the view.
