A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a truck in northeastern Colorado Springs on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The motorcycle was traveling north on Black Forest Road just before 2 p.m. when the rider attempted to pass several cars on the opposite lane and crashed into a truck that was attempting to make a right turn onto Foxtrot Lane, killing the rider, police said.
Police said the rider, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling at a high speed.
The driver of the truck was treated for non-serious injuries at a hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
The identify of the rider was not released Saturday night, pending notification of next of kin.
Saturday's death is the 24th fatal traffic crash in Colorado Springs this year, police said. It is also the fifth motorcycle-related death in the city since Oct. 3.
At this time in 2015, there were 23 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs, police said.
