A Strafford woman died and two men suffered life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash in Northwood on Monday, police said.

Merilyn Walker, 81, was heading eastbound on Route 4 about 1:45 p.m. when her Toyota Avalon crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound Dodge Caravan, state police said in a statement Monday evening. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The two men in the Caravan – 45-year-old Peter Hutchins of Hillsboro and 25-year-old Peter Hutchins of Epsom – were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.

It was unknown why Walker drifted over the centerline in the area of Route 4 near Denmark Drive, police said.
