Dothan, AL : Lana Kirkland, 41, died in a single-vehicle crash in Houston County on Tuesday night, March 1, 2016

A Dothan woman was killed Tuesday night when the car she was driving ran off the roadway and struck a tree in Houston County.

Lana Kirkland, 41, wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, according to Alabama state troopers. She was later pronounced dead.

Another woman was ejected from the 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage she was riding in. She was transported to a Dothan hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on West Saunders Road, just west of Sparrow Court in Houston County.
