MILWAUKEE, WI : Driver dead after fleeing police crashing into Pine Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday, 1st November 2023

A driver is dead after crashing into Pine Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Police say shortly after 2:23 p.m., a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and run a red light near Mayfair Road and Burleigh Street.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled. The deputy did not initiate a pursuit.

The fleeing vehicle was located crashed in Pine Lawn Cemetery, located on Capitol Drive.

The driver and sole occupant was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
