Mayfield, KY: Truck driver hospitalized after single-vehicle wreck on Tuesday, July 21st 2015

The Graves County Sheriff's Office says the driver of a tractor-trailer was taken to a local hospital after an incident that caused his vehicle to leave the roadway on Kentucky 94 Tuesday. Deputies responded to the report of an injury wreck at 1:40 p.m. The sheriff's office says 63-year-old Jimmy Gills, of Sedalia, was driving a semi owned by Clark Farm of Lynnville east on KY 94 when he had a medical emergency and lost consciousness. The semi left the right side of the roadway, then crossed to the left side, traveled through a yard and struck an earthen embankment. Gills was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for injuries the sheriff's office says were not life threatening. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mayfield-Graves County EMS, the Mayfield Fire Department, the Water Valley Fire Department and Burl’s Towing.
