Providence, R.I : Man arrested after fatal hit-and-run crash on Saturday night, November 8, 2014

A man riding a motorcycle died Saturday night following a hit-and-run accident that caused his motorcycle to strike a building, the police said. The victim was turning onto Plainfield Street at about 11:30 p.m. when he was struck by a car heading east on Plainfield Street. The impact sent the motorcycle onto the sidewalk, where it struck a building before landing in the road, the police said. The driver of the car fled south on Barrows Street but later returned to the scene. Raul Lastor Pol, 25, of Providence, was charged with operating without a license and leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting. He had a Republic of Guatemala ID card but did not have a license, the police said. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
