LONGWOOD, FL : Man, 19, killed in collision in Longwood on Sunday, February 5th 2017

One person was killed in a vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Longwood. According to FHP, the crash occurred at the intersection of Wekiva Springs Road and East Lake Brantley Road around 12:15 a.m.

Christopher Merwin, 19, of Altamonte Springs, was driving south on Wekiva Springs Road. Troopers say he traveled through a red light and hit a Nissan driven by Shatoria Scott, 31, of Orlando.

Merwin's vehicle continued through the intersection, hitting the left side of another vehicle.
Officials said Merwin was taken to Florida Hospital Altamonte, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, Brandon Compitello, 19, was also injured.

Scott was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The people in the third vehicle were not injured, according to the FHP report.
Wekiva Springs Road was shut down in all directions due to the crash, officials said.
