Ennis, TX : 2 Ennis ISD students injured after a bus crash on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017

Two children were taken to an area hospital following a Tuesday morning school bus crash in Ennis. The crash was the second in less than a year for an Ennis ISD school bus.
According to DPS Staff Sgt. Sara Warren, highway patrol troopers were dispatched to the isolated, single vehicle incident at approximately 6:38 a.m. in the 100 block of Zmolek Road, just west of Highway 85. Warren noted that the preliminary investigation indicated the Ennis ISD school bus was traveling east on Zmolek Road with seven children, the bus driver and a bus monitor aboard.
While the investigation is still ongoing, Warren stated via an electronic press release that the bus is believed to have "traveled off the north side of the roadway and entered a ditch. The bus remained upright when it came to rest."
"There were no life-threatening injuries sustained by the occupants," the release added. "Two children and the bus monitor were transported to an area hospital for treatment. At this time the incident is under investigation and no additional information is currently available."
On its Facebook page, Ennis ISD reported the adult bus monitor and two students were taken to an area hospital and confirmed that there were no serious injuries to report. The school district also noted that the remaining five students who were aboard Ennis ISD Bus No. 4 at the time of the incident had been picked up by their parents.
According to a previous Texas Department of Public Safety press release and Daily Light report, an Ennis ISD school bus collided with a Ford pickup truck at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016. The accident, which occurred along Highway 34 near Novy Road, left three students injured and, after being extricated from the vehicle, later resulted in the death of the driver of the pickup truck at an area hospital.
