HEDGESVILLE, WV : One dead after Hedgesville accident on Thursday, December, 7th 2017

A traffic accident Thursday afternoon on Hedgesville Road, near Hedgesville High School, resulted in the death of one individual.
At 3 p.m. officers received a call of a wreckless driver traveling on W.Va. 9, according to Berkeley County Sheriff Curtis Keller.
Keller said the caller advised dispatch that a blue Kia Spectra near Severna Parkway, next to the Department of Motor Vehicles, pulled out, almost striking several vehicles, and continued traveling westbound.
At 3:06 p.m. officers were dispatched to a vehicle accident. The Kia Spectra swerved into the eastbound lane striking a GMC Sierra pickup truck, Keller said.
The road was closed at the intersection of Hedgesville Road and Ridge Road South, according to an alert from the Berkeley County Swift911 Emergency Notification System.
According to dispatch over the 911 scanner, at 3:25 p.m., the medical examiner was called to the scene.
The passengers in the pickup were transported with non-life threatening injuries to Berkeley Medical Center, Keller said. The driver of the Kia died at the scene.
Keller said the victim’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department, Berkeley County Emergency Ambulance Authority and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene of the accident.
