BIRMINGHAM, AL : 2 killed in 5-car crash on Bankhead Hwy on Monday, 26th February 2024

The names of two people killed in a crash Monday have been released.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as 34-year-old Britney Hill Jones of Birmingham and Demetris Lasalle Sanders, 51, of Center Point.

The crash happened on Bankhead Highway and Cherry Street. One person was taken to UAB Hospital.

Authorities say Jones was driving a black Nissan Rogue north on Bankhead Highway when she was hit head-on by a white Chevrolet Suburban driven by Sanders.
