Azusa, CA : One dead by wrong-way driver on Southern California freeway on Saturday August 9th 2014

Authorities say a drunk, wrong-way driver struck another car on a Southern California freeway, killing a man and fleeing the scene. California Highway Patrol officer Monica Posada said the collision occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday, minutes after authorities received a call about a wrong-way driver in the westbound lanes of Interstate 210 in Azusa. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports 19-year-old Justin Romo of El Monte was killed when his Nissan sedan was struck head-on by a Honda Accord. Romo's 16-year-old girlfriend was hospitalized with moderate injuries. The driver of the Honda, 24-year-old Tyler White Thompson, ran from the wreck but was later arrested at his home in Duarte.
