CENTRAL KITSAP, WA : Three injured in Central Kitsap car accident on Saturday, September 9, 2017
Three people were injured in a Saturday afternoon car crash that resulted in a woman being charged with negligent driving.
Just before 3 p.m. on Sept. 9, a 2009 Ford F-150 being driven by a 24-year-old woman from Poulsbo was traveling east bound on Bucklin Hill Road between Central Valley Road and Silver Creek Lane. According to an eye witness, the woman was driving erratically, said Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver initially veered off the road towards the shoulder, but overcorrected and crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. The F-150 struck a 2008 Ford SUV with four people inside.
The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old male from Bremerton, his wife, and their three-year-old female child, were transported to Harrison Bremerton Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries. The fourth occupant, a three-week-old baby, was not hurt.
Authorities evaluated the woman driving the truck and found she was not impaired. However, the woman surmised that she may have fallen asleep at the wheel, Wilson said, as she was “very tired.”
Both vehicles were totaled and hauled away, with the scene cleared at approximately 4:30 p.m.
The woman was issued a notice for negligent driving in the second degree.
