Waterloo, IA : Girl injured in after-school accident on Idaho Street on Tuesday, October 11, 2016

A girl was taken to the hospital after she was apparently struck by a vehicle while heading home from school on Tuesday.

The girl’s condition wasn’t available, but authorities said she was conscious and alert at the scene. Paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took her to Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital.

The accident happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Idaho Street across from Highland Elementary School. Authorities said she was crossing the street when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle.
