RED BLUFF, CA : Minor injuriein collision near the intersection of Walnut Street and Fortier Road on Thursday, 23rd January, 2020

Two men and a woman. all from Red Bluff, were injured in a head-on collision just before 6 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Walnut Street and Fortier Road.

The involved parties were identified as driver Jimmy Ray Cawthon, Jr., 49, driver Charles Nance, 37, and Jennifer L. Lenwell, 36, who was a passenger in Nance’s vehicle, according to a California Highway Patrol press release issued Friday morning. All three were taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.

Cawthon was driving east on Walnut Street east of Fortier at 5:50 p.m. Thursday as Nance was headed west on Walnut. For unknown reasons, Cawthon swerved into the path of Nance in the westbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision.

Alcohol was determined to have contributed to the collision, however, the cause of the collision, including the reason Cawthon swerved, is still under investigation, a CHP spokesman said.
