Wiggins, MS : Mother killed and son injured when carstrikes a tree in Stone County on Sunday night July 6th 2014

The Stone County coroner says a 45-year-old woman has been killed and her 22-year-old son injured in a one-car accident in McHenry.

Coroner Wayne Flurry says Mylinda Beech of Gulfport was a passenger in the 1997 Volkswagen Jetta driven by her son, Brandon Beech.

The car ran off the road on a sharp curve Sunday night, and the passenger side struck a tree.

Lt. Lewis Husband with the Stone County Sheriff's Department says Mylinda Beech was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, but Brandon Beech was not restrained.

Flurry says Brandon Beech was taken by ambulance to Wiggins, then air lifted to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, where he was treated for minor to moderate injuries.
