Elyria,OH : Lorain Auxiliary cruiser involved in crash on Monday, July 10, 2017
The Ohio Highway State Patrol in Elyria is investigating a police-involved car accident Monday.
The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. on Elyria Avenue and involved a Lorain Auxiliary police cruiser.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the cruiser rear-ended a Chevy Trailblazer and went off the right side of the road, hitting a mailbox and crossing over Lincoln Blvd, and continued into a ditch.
The 72-year-old officer was taken to a local hospital for lower back injuries. He was on his way home from work at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Trailblazer was not injured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
