Warren County , NJ : One driver minorly injured after Three tractor-trailers crashed on Interstate 78 near warren County on Tuesday, December 2nd 2014
Three tractor-trailers crashed about 6 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 78 East not far into Warren County, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Initial reports placed the crash between one and three miles east of the bridge that connects Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A jackknifed tractor-trailer was visible just west of mile marker 1 in Pohatcong Township, a witness said.
New Jersey State Police said one of the drivers had minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The crash scene stretched from mile marker 1 to mile marker 2.2, bridge commission spokesman Joe Donnelly said.
The right and center lanes were initially closed, the witness said, later updating to say all lanes were closed. Traffic was getting by on the shoulder along the median.
The left lane later reopened, New Jersey State Police at Perryville reported just before 7 a.m.
The bridge commission, which oversees that stretch of highway, urged drivers to use Route 22 as an alternative, Donnelly said. There will be no road work on Tuesday on the highway through Easton, Donnelly said.
Traffic on Route 22 was heavy in Downtown Easton, but moving well just after 7:30.
The tie-up on Interstate 78 is "going to be awhile" before it is cleared, Donnelly said at 7:30.
