Eagle Twp, MI : Teenager killed, 8 other people hurt after SUV crashes on Michigan freeway near Lansing on Thursday, July 2, 2015

A teenage boy was killed and several other people were hurt after being thrown from a SUV in a crash on a Michigan freeway.

The Grand Rapids Press and WOOD-TV report that 13-year-old Qumele Marshall died after the crash about 4:40 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 96 in Eagle Township, northwest of Lansing.

Witnesses told police that the SUV struck another vehicle and rolled over. Eight other people were in the SUV. They were taken Thursday to area hospitals.

No one was injured in the second vehicle.

The eastbound lanes of the freeway in Clinton County were closed about 3½ hours.
