YAZOO COUNTY, MS : Woman identified in deadly Yazoo County hit and run on Sunday, December 4th, 2016
MHP officials have identified the woman, killed in a hit and run accident Sunday morning, but they continue to search for the vehicle that hit her.
MHP Corporal Eric Henry says around 7:30 a.m. Sunday officials responded to Hwy. 432, near I 55 to a hit and run accident of a pedestrian.
There they found Susan Rowland of Canton, laying in the roadway deceased.
Henry said, "We believe that at some time during the night or early morning the (victim) had a minor accident in her vehicle which caused her vehicle to get stuck in the mud. We believe that (she) exited her vehicle and began to walk up the roadway to search for help and at some point was struck by a unknown vehicle that left the scene.
Officials discovered a dog inside Rowland's Chevrolet Tahoe.
At this time officials do not know the make or model of the hit and run vehicle.
Authorities are asking for the public's help with providing any information.
