CHELMSFORD, MA : Chelmsford fatal crash victim ID'd as Lancaster woman on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016

The woman who died in a fatal car accident in Chelmsford on Saturday morning has been identified as 44-year-old Vicky Anna Gilbert of Lancaster, according to a funeral home.

Around 6:40 a.m. Saturday, a 2000 Ford Focus was traveling southbound on Interstate 495, near exit 33, when it crossed the grassy median and struck a 2017 Toyota Camry on the northbound side, police said. Don Dufault, funeral director for the Bosk Funeral Home in Fitchburg, confirmed Wednesday that Gilbert, who was driving the Focus, died at the scene.

The other driver was seriously injured, though it is unclear what that individual's condition is currently. State police, who are investigating the circumstances of the crash, did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Gilbert leaves behind three adult children, three grandchildren and six siblings, according to her obituary. She was born in Fitchburg.
