Norfolk, NE : 4 injured in accident on Sunday, December 18th 2016
An accident late Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 91 in northern Platte County resulted in multiple injuries.
According to information released from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office responded at about 4:50 p.m. to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection.
The investigation indicated that a 2001 Ford F150 driven by Kevin Seger, 52, O”Neill, had been traveling northbound on Highway 81, when a 2004 Toyota Sienna Van, traveling westbound on Highway 91, driven by Ester Achi, 47 from Wilmore, Ky., attempted to cross the intersection.
The driver of the van failed to yield to cross traffic and was struck by the northbound pickup in the driver's side rear corner panel.
The driver of the pickup and an adult passenger were assessed by Humphrey Rescue personnel and released from the scene with no injuries.
The driver of the van and her four passengers, two adults and two juveniles, were all transported to Faith Regional Health Services by Norfolk Rescue for minor injuries.
Humphrey Fire and Rescue, Lindsay Fire and Rescue and Creston Fire and Rescue assisted at the accident scene, and transportation of all injured parties.
Damages were estimated at about $15,000 to the van and $18,000 to the pickup. Seatbelts were in use at the time of the accident. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
Determinations into any traffic violations is are pending. The accident remains under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff's Office.
