One person died after a crash involving a Piedmont medical Center ambulance, Rock Hill police said.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Wednesday on Heckle Boulevard.
Police said the driver of the ambulance were taking a person to Piedmont Medical Center with ambulance lights and siren activated. The driver said he slowed to go through the intersection of Heckle and Hollis Lakes Road. As he entered the intersection, the driver said he saw a 2014 Lexus coming into the intersection.
The ambulance hit the passenger side of the Lexus. Police said the ambulance was going 60 to 70 mph before entering the intersection, but had slowed significantly to pass stopped vehicles and enter the intersection.
The person who died was in the ambulance, according to officials.
Rock Hill police said the driver of the ambulance was at fault but no charges were filed.
