A Baconton truck driver injured in a single-vehicle accident near Ellenton was airlifted to a Macon hospital following the wreck.
George “Sammy” McLeod, 53, drove the 2007 International off the roadway at about midnight Monday night, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
He was driving south on Ellenton-Omega Road at the time of the accident.
The truck went off the west shoulder of the road, GSP reports said, struck a ditch embankment with the right side of the big truck. The truck then struck a concrete culvert.
The truck traveled 485 feet from the point where it went off the roadway before coming to rest on its right side, the reports said.
McLeod was transported by air to Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon, the GSP said.
A spokesman there said on Wednesday afternoon that the hospital did not have a patient listed by that name.
