Richmond, VA : 17-year-old girl killed in ATV crash in Prince Edward County on Sunday, March 5, 2017
Virginia State Police are investigating after a 17-year-old girl was killed when the all-terrain vehicle she was driving crashed in Prince Edward County.
The accident happened about 5 p.m. Sunday when a 2014 Suzuki ATV ran off Route 713 near Green Bay, flipped several times and hit a stand of trees, state police said.
The driver — identified as Janet M. Driver, of Burkeville — and a 14-year-old passenger, were thrown from the ATV, state police said.
Neither was wearing a helmet, state police said.
Driver was taken to Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, where she died. The passenger was flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond and is being treated for serious injuries, state police said.
