Minneapolis, MN : Blaine man killed when motorcycle struck a car on Interstate 35E north at Minnesota Highway 36 near Little Canada on Wednesday, April 15, 2015
A 23-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday after a sideswipe accident with a car on Interstate 35E in Little Canada, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
According to the State Patrol, witnesses said that the motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed on northbound I-35E shortly after noon near County Road B.
The crash happened when the motorcyclist attempted to pass a northbound Audi S4 that was in the left lane. The Suzuki motorcycle's operator passed the car on the right and then cut back sharply left. The motorcycle clipped the passenger side of the Audi and lost control.
The motorcyclist, Robert T. Nelson of Blaine, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, Owen D. Duncanson, 57, of White Bear Lake, had no apparent injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
