Grand Island,NE : Fatal three-vehicle accident involving stolen car this morning on December, Tuesday 19th 2017
One person is confirmed dead in a three-vehicle accident this morning at Highway 281 and Old Potash Highway.
Grand Island police believe the driver who died was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle. At least one other person was transported to the CHI Health St. Francis emergency room by ambulance.
Police received the report of a stolen vehicle at 6:20 a.m. and then a report of a severe accident at 6:55 a.m. One of the vehicles was reported stolen to the Grand Island Police Department earlier this morning.
“There is one confirmed fatality who we believe to be the driver of the stolen vehicle,” says a news release.
There were no police personnel or police vehicles involved in the collision, although the color scheme of the stolen vehicle caused some confusion in that regard.
