Pensacola, FL : Two people injured, bear killed in motorcycle crash on State Road 87 near Vonnie Tolbert Road on Sunday night, June 12, 2016

Two people suffered minor injuries after striking and killing a bear with their motorcycle Sunday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The crash occurred about 9 a.m. Sunday on State Road 87 near Vonnie Tolbert Road in the Holley-Navarre area.

Larry D. Pierce, 54, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle north when a bear entered the roadway. The vehicle hit the bear, killing the animal and ejecting Pierce and his passenger, 46-year-old Wendy R. Pierce.

The two people were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital with minor injuries. They were not wearing helmets, according to the release.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was notified of the incident. No charges were filed.
