Reno, NV : One injured in a Three-car crash on I-80 on Thursday, October 30, 2014
Just around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, a three-vehicle crash on I-80 sent one woman to the hospital and put one man under arrest.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 21-year-old Sparks man was driving eastbound near Rock Blvd. when he lost control of his car, hitting both walls along the highway. His vehicle ended up across three lanes of the interstate. Unable to see the vehicle, a second car coming around a curve hit the first car head-on. The driver of that car was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. A third car swerved to avoid both cars and ended up hitting the wall. That driver was unharmed in the collision.
In the wake of this crash, NHP has a warning for all drivers.
"If you're driving at night, please don't overdrive your headlights. What I mean by that is, drive at a safe speed -- that when you're coming around the corner -- if there's some sort of debris or a vehicle or something in your travel lane, you would be able to take some sort of defensive driving action," says Sgt. Michael Edgell of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The driver of the first car is under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
NHP reminds the public to always wear seat belts; and if you see someone driving erratically, call 911 immediately.
