Glen Carbon, IL : Male driver died in a single-vehicle crash in Glen Carbon on Wednesday afternoon, Nov 4, 2015

A male driver died in a single-vehicle crash in Glen Carbon late Wednesday afternoon, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened at about 4:41 p.m. A vehicle exiting Interstate 270 onto Route 157 went off the road and struck a large tree and a ditch, troopers said.

The driver may have been passing other cars on the shoulder, troopers said. The driver, the only person inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
