A motorcycle accident on a busy city street claimed the life of a Wilkes-Barre teenager Friday afternoon, according to the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.
Daniel J. Hogan Jr., 18, was pronounced dead at 3:57 p.m. in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he had been taken for treatment, according to deputy coroner Barney Dobinick.
The accident near the intersection of South Pennsylvania Avenue and Dana Street was reported at 3:25 p.m., according to a Luzerne County 911 emergency dispatch supervisor.
Authorities had not released many details of the accident as of Friday night.
Hogan was apparently riding on South Pennsylvania Avenue at the time of the accident, Dobinick said.
Dobinick and city Assistant Fire Chief William Murtha deferred further comment to Wilkes-Barre police, who are investigating.
A police spokesman Friday night said information would be posted on the department’s Facebook page, but nothing had been posted as of press time.
