INTERLOCHEN, MI : Man dies after rollover crash on U.S. 31 South near Lakes North Drive on Tuesday, 4th September 2018

An early morning call led authorities to the scene of a rollover crash that later left a Benzie County man dead.

A driver passing the scene of the one-vehicle crash west of Interlochen on U.S. 31 South near Lakes North Drive alerted Grand Traverse County dispatchers. Sheriff's deputies and emergency responders reported to the crash shortly after the 2:31 a.m. call Wednesday and found the driver ejected from the car, said sheriff’s Lt. Chris Barsheff.

Emergency personnel took the man to Munson Medical Center where he died, Barsheff said. A sheriff's department Facebook post released Wednesday evening identified the man as 19-year-old Kane Alan Thomason, of Benzie County. Barsheff expected the body to be sent for an autopsy in Kalamazoo in the near future.

It appears Thomason was the only person in the car at the time of the crash that deputies continue investigating, he said.
