Montgomery, AL : Page High student killed in Monday morning crash on Monday, December 19th 2016
A Page High School student was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of South Carothers Road and Arno Road.
Savanna Biles, 18, died Monday as a result of the crash that occurred at 7:25 a.m., according to The Tennessee Highway Patrol. Biles was a senior at Page High, principal Shane Pantall said.
According to the accident report, Biles was driving east on S. Carothers Road when she attempted to negotiate a curve to the right. Biles' vehicle traveled over the center line and went off the left side of the roadway near Arno Road where it struck a ditch and overturned. The roof of the vehicle struck a tree and pinned Biles inside, according to the report.
Biles was wearing a seatbelt and there were no signs of drugs or alcohol at the scene, the report stated. There was no one else injured in the crash.
"This morning’s news has been a heavy burden on those who knew her well and those who share in the close nature of the Page community," Pantall said in a statement. "There is no way to adequately measure the degree of loss; the shock has yet to register fully across the school.
"Savanna’s smile, pleasant demeanor, and cheerful optimism will be missed greatly. As her peers wrestle with this difficult news, we quietly pause to acknowledge the weight of the moment. Page High School is a family, and Savanna’s loss will be grieved by many. The entire Patriot family extends its deepest sympathies to her family and friends."
