ROMNEY, WV : Two killed in U.S. 50 crash near Hampshire High School on Monday, 16th December, 2019

A 24-year-old Capon Bridge man and his 3-year-old passenger died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 50 near Hampshire High School, West Virginia State Police said.

Shawn Stotler was operating a Chevrolet Cobalt east near the roadside park when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Chevrolet Traverse operated by Kasey Mowery, 29, of Augusta, police said.

Stotler and the child were pronounced dead at the scene following the 8:30 a.m. crash. Mowery was taken by ambulance to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center. Her condition was not available late Monday.

Fire and rescue crews from Romney and Augusta responded to the accident. Route 50 was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Two people were killed Monday and a third person taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 50 near Hampshire High School, according to West Virginia State Police.

No details were available early Monday afternoon as efforts continued to notify the next of kin of the victims.

The accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. in the area of roadside park, police said.

Numerous Hampshire County fire and EMS units responded to the scene.
