Tampa, FL : Woman injured in Tampa car crash at Benjamin Road and Hillsborough Avenue on Friday, August 15, 2014

A 23-year-old Tampa woman was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital after she crashed her car at Benjamin Road and Hillsborough Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Florida Highway Patrol said Sarah Hastings was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima south on Benjamin at a high rate of speed when she traveled through the intersection and jumped the center median. Her car struck two traffic signals and ultimately hit the side of a ditch on the side of Hillsborough, FHP says. The vehicle was then launched into the air, traveled over a fence and onto Tampa International Airport property, FHP says. Hastings was in good condition Saturday afternoon, the hospital said.
