Colorado Springs, CO : 25-year-old woman died and another seriously injured when car rolled and hit a cement culvert in El Paso County on Monday, June 29, 2015

The Colorado State Patrol released the identities of two women who were in a single-vehicle rollover crash that resulted in one death early Monday morning on Interstate 25 just south of Colorado Springs in El Paso County.

Brittany Arellano, the 25-year-old driver, died from her injuries, and 21-year-old passenger Mariah Ney was transported to a Colorado Springs hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Both women were from Pueblo.

Drowsy driving might have contributed to the death, state patrol said.

Arellano was driving a 2011 Toyota Yaris southbound on the interstate when the vehicle swerved off the left side of the road, state patrol said. The vehicle came back on the road and continued on the road before it went off the right side, state patrol said.

The driver overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to spin counter-clockwise, state patrol said. The car then rolled over and collided with a cement culvert, state patrol said.

The vehicle went airborne before it came to a stop on its roof, state patrol said.

State patrol said the passenger was unrestrained and the driver who died was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which was reported around 5:30 a.m. Monday at mile marker 130 about six miles south of Colorado Springs.

Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the crash, state patrol said.
