A car wreck on Yellowstone Avenue claimed the life of a Chubbuck man on Thursday afternoon.
According to Idaho State Police, Randy Cherry, 67, was traveling southbound in a 2001 Dodge 2500 pickup truck when his vehicle left the right side of the roadway. Police said the truck then rolled and struck a power pole.
The vehicle ultimately came to rest off the right shoulder on its top at Yellowstone Avenue’s milepost 81, located south of Siphon Road in Chubbuck.
No other vehicles were involved in the wreck, which occurred at approximately 4:13 p.m.
Cherry was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and Idaho State Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt. The section of the roadway where the crash occurred was closed throughout the late afternoon and evening hours as crews worked on the power lines. As of 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, the road was still closed.
The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
