Surprise, AZ : Man freed from SUV after crash into Surprise canal on Thursday morning, March 26, 2015

A man driving an SUV had to be cut from his vehicle after it crashed into a canal in rural Surprise on Thursday morning.

The SUV landed at an awkward angle in the canal at the intersection of Waddell Road and Sarvia Avenue, authorities said.

There was about a foot of water in the canal, authorities said.

The man was freed, but refused further care and a trip to the hospital.
