LIVE OAK, FL : A two-vehicle wreck in northwestern Suwannee County on Friday, December, 1st 2017
A Miami man was killed Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle wreck in northwestern Suwannee County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Russell Albert Thom III was driving south on County Road 249 at 2:32 p.m. and failed to yield to a semi truck headed west on Stagecoach Road (County Road 132), traveling directly into its path.
The truck, driven by 56-year-old Dwayne M. White, of Jasper, hit the left side of the 2013 Honda Civic, according to FHP.
The report states the car ended in the westbound lane of CR 132 and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The truck, meanwhile, overturned onto its left side on the south shoulder of CR 132, the report states.
According to Suwannee County Fire Rescue, White was trapped inside.
White was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville in serious condition. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP.
