Middletown, CT :Truck Backs Up Over Woman In Middletown on Monday, June 29th 2015

Woman was seriously injured Monday when a box truck backed over her, police said.The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. at 708 South Main St. in the south end of the city, Lt. Heather Desmond said. The truck was in the northbound lane when its driver, 44-year-old Mathew Barschow, backed up and struck the 54-year-old woman, she said.The victim, 54-year-old Evelyn Rivera, was airlifted to Hartford Hospital with injuries that police described as serious. She was in critical condition Monday night.South Main Street, or Route 17, was expected to be closed between Highland Avenue and Ward Street for a few hours.Police did not say if anyone was charged in the accident.Anyone who witnessed the accident or who knows anything about it is urged to contact the Middletown Police Department Traffic Unit 860-638-4060.
