Belvidere,IL : Belvidere police officers investigate fatal motorcycle crash on September, Saturday 9th 2017

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a Jeep Cherokee early this afternoon in the 5500 block of Newburg Road, Belvidere Police Chief Jan Noble said in a news release.

Officers were dispatched to the crash site around 1:40 p.m. Noble said witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist was speeding westbound on Newburg Road when he passed a vehicle. A Jeep Cherokee had stopped to turn when the motorcyclist hit the sport utility vehicle in the rear.

The Jeep Cherokee driver and the motorcyclist were thrown from their vehicles, Noble said.

Lifeline Ambulance Services’ paramedics transported the motorcyclist to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Jeep Cherokee driver was treated and released at the crash scene. Both he and the motorcyclist were traveling alone, Noble said.
