Harlan, IA : Four injured in four-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 in Shelby County on Saturday, June 18, 2016
Drunken driving is suspected after a Harlan man hit three vehicles while driving on U.S. Highway 59 in Shelby County.
Four people were injured in the wreck that occurred around 10:50 p.m. Saturday. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 27-year-old Joshua Edgecomb of Harlan was driving a 1996 GMC Sierra pickup truck northbound on Highway 59 near 800th Street south of Harlan when he crossed the center line.
The state patrol said Edgecomb’s vehicle struck three vehicles traveling south on Highway 59 – a 1999 Ford F350 pickup driven by Troy Fudge, 44, of Corning; a 2009 Buick Enclave sport-utility vehicle driven by Rachelle Brown, 35, of Omaha; and a 2013 Ford pickup driven by Scott Brown, 44, of Omaha. The Browns have the same address, though the state patrol couldn’t confirm what, if any, relation the two share.
A medical helicopter transported Joshua Edgecomb and passenger Timmy Edgecomb, 51, to Nebraska Medicine. Josh Edgecomb was treated and released, while Timmy Edgecomb remains in critical condition.
Rachelle Brown and 14-year-old Dakota Holderness of Council Bluffs, a passenger in one of the unspecified southbound vehicles, were transported to Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan for treatment.
