Deerfield ,IL : Tractor-trailer rolls over in 3-car Tollway crash on Wednesday Morning ,August 12th 2015

tractor-trailer carrying several hundred pounds of grain overturned this morning on Interstate 94, according to Illinois State Police, after it was "cut off" by one vehicle and struck another.

The three-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:33 a.m on Wednesday just south of Illinois Route 22 near Deerfield, said Master Sergeant Jewel Harris.

All three drivers were transported to area hospitals for minor injuries, said Deputy Chief Ray Larson with the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

"All the occupants were very fortunate and lucky due to the severity and damage to the vehicles. They were fortunate to escape with minor injuries," Larson said.

According to Harris, the crash occurred in the four eastbound lanes of I-94. Around 5:33 in the morning, he said, a 2011 red Chevy Camaro traveling in the far outside lane merged left into the third lane and struck the semi-truck. Harris said the driver of the semi-truck then lost control, crossed over the remaining two lanes of traffic to the left, toward the median, and struck a black Ford Taurus.
