JACKSON COUNTY, IL : 27-year-old Murphysboro man dead after crash in Jackson County on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024

A 27-year-old man is dead after a car crashed on Tuesday morning in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said it happened on January 2, at 7:40 a.m. at Town Creek Road and Worthen Cemetery Road in the rural part of Murphysboro.

The sheriff’s office said a black 2002 Mitsubishi was going east on Town Creek Road when it went off the road on the right side, hit a driveway culvert and flipped over multiple times.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the driver was Kyle Lee Thompson, 27 of Murphysboro, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
