Orange, CA :Motorcyclist killed in Orange after CHP pursuit on Friday, July 3rd 2015
A motorcylcist died early this morning after a high-speed police pursuit led him to lose control and crash into a median in Orange.The crash occurred at 4 a.m. at Batavia Street and Katella Avenue, said Lt. Fred Lopez, public information officer for the Orange Police Department.The California Highway Patrol was chasing the motorcyclist on the 55 freeway but “terminated” their pursuit before the crash, Lopez said.Orange Fire Paramedics responded to the scene and found the male driver ejected from the motorcycle. The man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.Police are investigating the cause of the accident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 714-744-7444.This is the second time in as many months that a motorcyclist was killed after high-speed pursuit in Orange. In May, the CHP chased after a motorcyclist before the rider hit a barrier at traffic circle in the city’s historic plaza, at Glassell Street and Chapman Avenue. The motorcyclist, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
