GREENWICH, GA : Driver suffered medical episode before Greenwich crash on Tuesday, 19th January 2021

A car crash involving a Mercedes SUV on East Elm Street disrupted traffic in central Greenwich on Tuesday morning, police said.

East Elm between Greenwich Avenue and Mason Street was blocked after the one-vehicle accident around 9:30 a.m., according to police. Police officers responded to the scene of the crash, witnesses said.

According to police Capt. Mark Zuccerella, “The investigation revealed the operator suffered a medical emergency, which caused the vehicle to crash into the old Greenwich Time building. The operator was transported to the hospital.”

There was no information released on the extent of injuries for the driver or anyone else.
