CANAAN, N.H : Woman killed after collision with trailer on May 27th 2014

A woman was killed in a crash on Route 4 when the back portion of a truck slid around a corner, slamming into her car.

Around 2:24 p.m., police said a tractor-trailer heading west turned a corner near Crate Lane when the trailer suddenly slid into opposing traffic.

A woman in a compact car heading the opposite direction was killed.

Canaan police, along with the state police traffic accident reconstruction unit and commercial vehicle unit, are investigating how the accident happened.

Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor, but they are investigating whether speed played a role.

Traffic was detoured for several hours.
