LOGAN, UT : Man killed in Logan Canyon ATV crash on Saturday, August 19, 2017

Police have identified the man who died over the weekend in an ATV crash in Logan Canyon.

Cassidy Wakely, 33, of Logan, was riding a four-wheeler with friends when he miscalculated a curve in the road, sending the vehicle off the roadway and down a 15-foot drop, a news release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office says. The crash happened Saturday, Aug. 19, on Franklin Basin Road, about 4 miles off U.S. Highway 89.After the crash, bystanders said Wakely was unconscious and not breathing, the release says. Though the bystanders and paramedics tried to aid Wakely with CPR, the 33-year-old died at the scene.

Wakely was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred, the release says. Sheriff’s office investigators said speed was a factor in the crash.

In addition to the sheriff’s office, employees with Utah State Parks and Recreation, as well as the Utah State Medical Examiner, helped with the investigation, the release says.
