Columbia, TN : Two injured in Williamsport crash on Tuesday, November, 14th 2017
Two Maury County juveniles were taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center on Tuesday morning after a single-vehicle accident near Williamsport Pike.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the truck attempted to negotiate a left curve on Jimmy Gray Robinson Road and ran off the right side of the roadway.
Sgt. Chris Dye told The Daily Herald the vehicle then over corrected and traveled off the left side of the road into a yard, striking an embankment.
The truck came to a rest against a tree with the front of the vehicle pointing straight up in the air.
A 16 year old was thrown from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 10 year old was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identities of both were not disclosed. They reportedly were Hampshire Unit School students.
Dye urged drivers and passengers to always wear their seat belts.
“We need occupants to wear their restraints,” he emphasized.
