Lynchburg, VI : Lynchburg wreck sends two to hospital on April, sunday 16th 2017

A car overturned in a single-vehicle accident on the Lynchburg Expressway that sent two people to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Two people were in the four-door sedan; no major injuries were initially reported, Sgt. C. M. Smith of the Lynchburg Police Department said.

“We know that the driver was an elderly female that was having some type of medical issue,” Smith said.It was not immediately clear what that condition was, he said.

The driver’s adult son was with her in the car, and both of them were talking in the emergency vehicle when it left for the hospital, he said. Smith said he did not yet have the names of those involved.

The accident occurred on northbound U.S. 501 near the intersection of Lakeside Drive when the driver ran off the right side of the road and the car struck the embankment and flipped, Smith said.
